The name SAR 3 PILIPINAS has a double meaning to it.
In the rescue community, here in the Philippines and in general, SAR means, SEARCH and RESCUE. In our org name, “S” also means STANDARDS OF TRAINING IN SEARCH AND RESCUE. This involves skills training of international/acceptable standards currently in practice. “A” means ASSISTANCE TO RESCUERS; specially to volunteer responders, in terms of medical assistance and training opportunities. And “R” stands for RESCUE TECHNOLOGY that is current, up to date and technologically advanced. Last but not least, the number ‘3’ represents the three island groups of the Philippines; Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
